Black Bean Steak
Nice meal, not too hard to make.
The quantity below serves one. Probably not worth your time. Triple or quadruple the ingredients.

Instructions broken down into 3 steps: meat marinade, sauce, cook and bring together
1. Meat Prep (Marinade / Velveting)
Ingredients
- 150g Beef
- 1⁄4 t Salt
- 1⁄2 t Sugar
- 1⁄2 t Cornstarch
- 1⁄2 t Rice Wine
- 1⁄4 t Dark Soy Sauce
- 1 t Oil (Neutral Flavor)
Method
- Slice beef against the grain into very thin strips
- Add all ingredients in order and mix until fully coated
2. Sauce Prep
Ingredients
- 2T black beans. Take from a tin.
- 1T Soy Sauce
- 1/2T Dark Soy Sauce
- 1/2T Oyster Sauce
- 1c Salt reduced chicken stock
Method
- Mash the beans into a fine paste
- Add everything together and mix well
- Wait 30+ mins for flavours to combine
3. Cook and bring together
Ingredients
- 1⁄2 Broccoli
- 1 Carrot
- 1 Onion
- 2 Cloves garlic
- 1⁄2 c un-cooked rice
- 2 spring onions (optional)
- 3t cornstarch mixed with minimal water
Method
- Prepare/cook rice by packet instructions
- Cook broccoli and carrot for 1 min in wok. Remove. (this starts them cooking)
- Cook onion and garlic for 1 min.
- Add beef.
- Add sauce, simmer 2 mins until thick.
- Add veges.
- Add cornstarch.
- Heat off, toss around. Wait until thick.
- Serve with rice. Garnish with spring onions.
